Michael johnson
at Studio 41 Pilates
September 3 - 5 2026
Michael Johnson has been a dedicated Pilates practitioner since 1983 — captivated from his very first sessions with Romana Kryzanowska — and has remained deeply committed to the study and evolution of the method ever since.
Teaching since 1995, Michael brings a mobility-focused approach rooted in the history of Classical Pilates, while integrating modern functional solutions that cross-pollinate across movement disciplines. His classes, privates, seminars, and workshops are designed to help practitioners better understand how the body moves, adapts, and performs.
In 2023, he launched Matfit-Lab — Assess • Mobilize • Heal — a workshop series created for movement and Pilates enthusiasts interested in exploring motor control known as Joseph Pilates method called “Contrology”.
This workshop is open to all Pilates instructors (both classical and contemporary) and Pilates practitioners who want to learn and apply mobility principles to their Pilates practice.
By the end of the 3-Day workshop…
You will learn how to mobilise the entire skeleton and develop the technical understanding to load and optimise each body part through the use of the Contrology equipment.
You will also gain an understanding of safety versus threat within the nervous system, and how to mitigate stress responses by integrating the eye chart into the practice environment.
The goal is that with every year of practising Contrology, you continue to pass your 10-point fitness test - at any age.
A full schedule is below.
Coffee and refreshments will be provided to the participants.
The workshop will take place between 12.00 and 18.30 on Thursday and Friday, and between 10.00-16.30 on Saturday.
